Many thanks to Deb at Smitten Kitchen!

Quite by chance I stumbled upon SmittenKitchen.com and decided to try "Mom's Apple Cake" recipe featured on September 30th, 2008. Yesterday afternoon Mum and I baked the cake and yes, we resisted the temptation to get up in the middle of the night to take a "sample". After lunch I quickly took a snapshot of the cake and then we had a slice, OMG! It is sooo moist and yummy, the perfect comfort food!
Thank you Deb for your inspiring website and delicious recipes!

Far Breton

Mum and I decided to bake a traditional cake from Brittany, the Far Breton. I think it is one of the easiest and fastest cakes to prepare and it is utterly delicious! I found the recipe at www.epicurious.com

Mumsy's birthday cake

This is the birthday cake I baked with Mom for her birthday while we were staying at the cottage during our break. It was the first time we baked a cake in an AGA, alas the Victoria sponge cake lost the top layer as it was too brown, not really edible. Once the bottom layer cooled down, we added sumptuous French raspberries jam, cream and sugary decorations and enjoyed the cake. I must add that at the second attempt to bake the cake we were successful and had a two layers sponge cake!
