Hyperbolic scarf-work in progress

...yet another of my bizarre ideas: I have gone quite hyperbolic, twisted and 3D as I have decided that I needed a pale grey scarf as a handmade fashion statement, and it had to be quite bold too. I only hope the scarf will be worn before Spring arrives....

This project looks very promising...

A tiny shell...

...or an inverted comma, cute isn't it?

I was supposed to crochet squares....

...and I ended up with these two "not so square" samples! I am experimenting and trying to follow the written instructions from the latest issue of the fabulous "Mollie Makes" magazine, but alas something has definately not gone according to plans and to my best intentions.
I guess that crochet for me is like doodling, I am still learning and I too easily get off on one of my tangents; I ask myself: "What if I do this, what if I go round this loop,..." and the initial idea metamorphoses into a new bizarre experiment.
...but wait. there is more!

A cute little house for Mumsy...

...this is one of the handmade gifts I prepared for Mumsy; when she saw this house-threads container she was delighted and could not stop giggling, I think she likes it!

Stepping down...

I do like this photo, it has that paparazzi-slightly out of focus style, Tilly is stepping down from the chair, she knows she should not be there, sitting on my crochet, making biscuits and drooling over the mohair crochet. She is avoiding any eye contact, and I am smiling behind the camera, all is well.

In reverse order...

Yesterday our cat in residence Tilly decided to make "some biscuits", (or put it in another way,  "massaging"), on my in-progress crochet project. She was utterly delighted to find not one, but three layers of rounded shapes stitched together, soft mohair and pure wool, bliss for Tilly!
 In her typical feline fashion she reminded me that I really ought to get on with this project if I want to use this warm blanket this Autumn, well, it may be only the beginning of September, but it feels Autumn is already here, which I don't mind.
Note to myself: I must set a deadline for this project and carry on stitching!

I find crochet slightly addictive...

...and utterly enjoyable! After my first throw, I have decided to be more experimental and "3D". I started off trying to crochet some flowers, after I saw on Mollie Makes a lovely tutorial on how to crochet flowers, but typical me, I took a tangent and started creating these rounded shapes, like little bowls. I decided to crochet as many as I could with the yarn I bought at the local charity shops and then stitch the rounded shapes together to form a blanket. My Mom is following the evolution of the project with a bemused look.
I crochet as often as I can, usually late afternoon and in the evenings, when we watch online the repeats of the Tour de France on France 2. I usually don't follow cycling, but this was such a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the French landscape and architectural heritage, one definately not to be missed.
I will keep you posted on this project, you will appreciate that this is "work in progress", hence it doesn't look neat and perfect, I am so excited with this project that I simply had to share it with you all!

Round and round it goes...

This project started off as a footstool cover, now, it looks like it will become a very nice and very big cushion!
I am off to the garden where I will carry on crocheting, today the sky is too turquoise to stay indoors!

While we were on holiday at the beautiful Owl Cottage in Derbyshire, Mumsy decided to get some lovely multi coloured yarn and crochet a pair of fingerless gloves for our friend Pat who often works outdoors on her farm.
